Our Story

A veteran in the Cosmetic Industry, Annie Young has over 25 years experience as a make-up artist.
At a young age Annie was faced with the challenge of supporting and raising a family of three. Annie decided to focus on her artist expertise and founded Annie Young Cosmétiques in 1988. Over the years, Annie built her company with a team of makeup artists who shared her enthusiasm and philosophy for beauty. In 1996, Annie’s daughter Sharleen joined the company. Together the mother and daughter duo continue to expand the business and remain committed to customer service and satisfaction now running Annie Young Boutique Spa in Victoria Park

ANNIE YOUNG

My passion and commitment have given me the opportunity to grow as a woman and as a business person.
I am forever grateful for the gift of accomplishing my dreams and am proud of the woman I am today.
Our mission is to stand by our product and service and to inspire women of all ages to look and feel beautiful.

SHARLEEN YOUNG

The biggest lesson I have learned from Annie, my mother, is to be a good person and an honest business woman. I have grown to love and have a real passion for my business.
I feel fortunate to be able to make women feel beautiful and celebrate happy occasions.
I look forward to a challenging future with many opportunities in both my personal and professional lives.

The Team

“To get together is a start, to stay together is a progress, to work together is the key to success! “

Stephanie Campbell

Makeup Artist

Stephanie started at Annie Young Cosmétiques taking care of customers. She was amazed by the transformative power of makeup, both visually and emotionally. She seized a wonderful opportunity and graduated from the Annie Young School of Makeup.

“I am pursuing my passion for beauty, artistry and helping women to feel beautiful and valued. It all just came together.”

As a certified makeup artist, she is developing her skills and transitioning into a junior position on the team.

Ekaterina Ulyanoff

Makeup Artist / Lash Extension Technician

Every makeup artist is known for a particular makeup style. My signature look starts with perfect brows, feline eyes and glowy sculpted cheekbones – everything to make a woman feel young and sexy.

And in addition, as a lash extensions technician as well, I can say that inner beauty is great and all, but a few lash extensions never hurt anybody! 🙂

Alexandra Neill

Makeup Artist / Lash Extension Technician

Possessing a passion for makeup and all forms of art and beauty at a young age, it was no surprise when she found her way to makeup.

Alexandra is experienced in bridal, runway, television, editorial, film and beauty makeup, and has expertise in eyebrow shaping and eyelash extensions.

“All women are beautiful; each of my sessions begins from that premise.”

Derek Lauscher

Makeup Artist

Coming from Vancouver, BC, Derek found his love for the transformative powers of makeup through the art of Gender Illusion and Drag. He is a graduate from the prestigious Blanche Macdonald Centre, and has worked for brands such as Illamasqua, Shu Uemura, and most recently MAC Cosmetics.

Bringing trends and techniques from the west coast, he’s excited to share his knowledge and learn with the team at Annie Young.

“The beautiful thing about makeup, is that there are no rules! Have fun and express yourself!”

Claudia Zalega

Master Esthetician

Claudia’s Brazilian upbringing taught her from a young age that being well groomed is the key to providing instant and long term beauty.

“An Esthetician is a girl’s best friend.”

Francine Gagnon

Makeup Artist / Makeup Teacher

I am passionate about ‘personalized ‘ makeup, listening to the needs and purposes of my clients, actresses, models, to help create the look that will suit the event or script, or simply amplify their beauty, with just a few and specific products. Its been 35 years that I practice this lovely ‘métier’, 15 of them in cinema and for the last 8 years, teaching for Annie Young school, to future makeup artists. That really keeps me up to date with trends and staying modern, without falling ‘victim’ to the different ‘fashions or fads’! Always a challenge, I find myself privileged to still enjoy doing makeup and sharing my different experiences.

Gabrielle vanRootselaar

Nail Artist

Gabrielle has had a passion for beauty, art and fashion from an early age. She started practicing nail art as a hobby when she was in high school. Little did she know that there was a wonderful career as a nail artist in her future. She studied at LaSalle College to become a certified nail technician and is knowledgeable in optimizing nail health. She has a selection of Shellac and Vinylux to fit the season’s style and her client’s unique look. With an eye for color and detail, Gabrielle helps a client express herself with her nails.

Stephanie Miramontes

Makeup Artist

When Stephanie was in University she decided to take a makeup class, which helped her discover her true passion. Later she decided to take a professional makeup and hair styling course with “Irma de Zuñiga”, a celebrated Mexican makeup artist. In 2009 she took a Makeup for Film and Television course at “Vancouver Film School”; and Makeup Artistry at “Blanche MacDonald Centre”. She has had the opportunity to work with several photographers, model agencies, wedding venues as well as the film industry in México, Vancouver, Calgary and Montréal. Stephanie’s makeup style reflects the client’s own personality putting special focus on the skin, mastering the “no makeup, makeup”. Now she brings all of her expertise to the Annie Young team.
